We had quite a turn out for the Elimination. I remember on one of the laps after Joao had broken away, the spectators on the side of the road saying that the guys in Laurentina drink too much that’s why Joao was ahead and winning. Not good … not good
Welcome to the race report.
The race kicked off at 8:20 with two neutral laps. Werner took two sprints. Vicente walked away with one. And Abilio’s break earned him one sprint. After that it was hello, goodbye, thank you very much sirs, I will be seeing you after the race, Joao went after the sixth lap never to be seen again. By the end of the race he had half a lap on second place (2Km)
The bunch couldn’t reel Joao back in. He was a cut above the rest. For the second time in a row this year Duncan Wyness’s legs gave in after 11 laps. Well, the Elimination race has never been an easy one.
One of the big surprises of the day was none other than Richard Fair who almost had a shot at the podium after Alvaro’s shoes unclipped from the pedals. Richard settled for fourth. He rode a brilliant tactical race.
